Lost Among Dreams (formerly The Garden)

Series of wall-sized, charcoal drawings.

Originally taking place in a garden/forest setting, this series grew to include rocky areas, swamps and large bodies of water. As the set expanded to include different terrain it became apparent that the series name would have to change. Considering how the images manifest themselves, it was very important that the new title coincide with how the concepts surface.

Often without warning or provocation but with a pressing demand to come to life, the images for this series seem to appear from the deep within my psyche. They insist on being large-scale so the subject depicted can be life-size and the viewer can melt into the space surrounding them. For this reason, most of these drawings are well over 5’ square. I have yet to actually understand why or how it is that these particular images emerge, and it is hard to talk about this series in past or present tense so pardon me if I use both. There is no telling when more images will come into being.
